The college admissions essay is your high school student’s opportunity to shine and communicate what is special about their lives. The essay is a vital part of every application, but for many, the most stressful part of the entire application process. Kids often hate to write their essays and parents don’t know how to motivate them. Sometimes this important assignment gets left to the last minute. Aimed at parents of ambitious high school students, this one hour workshop will describe what makes an essay successful, what the barriers are kids that normally face when trying to write one, and how parents can support their kids while helping everyone to stay cool. You will leave with a timeline, checklist, and tips so that you can support your student through this important writing assignment in achievable steps.
Second Workshop “Writing the College Admissions Essays: A Workshop for High School Students” 4:00pm – 4:50pm
You earned your grades, took the standardized tests, and collected glowing letters of recommendation. Terrific! Now it’s time to write a memorable admissions essay that helps you stand out.
Current sophomores and juniors are invited to an hour long interactive workshop by Effective Essay Coach on writing the successful college admissions essay. The workshop will cover the differences between essays that worked and those that didn’t, give you exercises to spark ideas about topics, and leave you with a timeline, checklist, and tips so that you can tackle this important writing assignment in achievable steps.
